Virgo has been known by many different cultures and represents many different things for these cultures throughout history. In Greek mythology, Virgo means many different things. One story goes that the virgin represents Demeter, the corn goddess holding an ear of grain marked by the star, Spica. Virgo is the largest constellation in the Zodiac, and is the 2nd largest in the whole of the celestial sphere, which is the entire night sky. Virgo has the brightest Quasar and has a number of clusters of galaxies closest to Earth.
