History & Mythology

Coma Berenices constellation is named after an ancient Egyptian queen called Berenices II. Coma Berenices was once part of constellation Leo until 1536 when German cartographer Caspar Vopel first depicted Coma Berenices as a separate constellation. Coma Berenices is a faint constellation that sits between the more prominent constellations of Bootes & Leo. The constellation has some impressive Deep-Sky Objects.
