History & Mythology

Canes Venatici constellation represents a pair of hunting dogs by way of its 2 main stars. The constellation sits between Bootes & Ursa Major, and was introduced by the Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius in 1687. Johannes Hevelius imagined its 2 main stars as to dogs held on a lead by the Herdsman, Bootes. Canes Venatici is a mid sized constellation that has several Deep-Sky Objects.
