History & Mythology
Sitting between constellations of Pegasus & Aquila, Delphinus is a small northern constellation that lies at the edge of the Milky Way. In Greek Mythology, the Dolphin was a messenger of the sea god Poseidon. In the 19th century Italian astronomer Nicolaus Venator named the 2 brightest stars Sualocin & Rotanev after himself, which is his name in the reverse. They are known now as Alpha & Beta Delphinus.
