Mayall’s Object

Mayall’s Object is a peculiar / ring galaxy in the constellation of Ursa Major.

Mayall’s Object was discovered by Nicholas Mayall in the 1940’s.

Nearly as old as the universe itself, this amazing looking galaxy was once two galaxies that has now merged into one. It’s very clear by looking at this wonderful galaxy that it was once two different galaxies.   

Since the galaxies have merged into one galaxy, the galaxy is now classed as a ring galaxy, but can also be classed as a peculiar galaxy too.

Unclear as to the actual size and star population of the galaxy, however what is clear is that this galaxy is very old, very far away from Earth and is very beautiful. !
